Detailed Course Description

Teaching electroforming EXCLUSIVELY online for Zurich Glass School we would like to present lampworker and earth scientist, Terry Henry from the USA. In our third offering Terry Henry will present a follow-up course from her electroforming classes, TH1 and TH2. She will delve into electroforming with reactive materials such as ammonites, pearls, and gemstones. “TH 3: Designing and Creating with Reactive Materials” focuses on designing and using delicate gems, minerals, and other materials that erode in an electroforming bath. This class is all about learning how to join delicate elements together and address materials that need special treatment and protection. We will create a pendant composed of shells and shell fragments, a fossil ammonite, pearls, gems, sea glass, and other materials of your choice to illustrate the process of using reactive materials. We will discuss the use of precious gems and minerals and provide information on how to determine what materials are affected during the electroforming process. Students will learn basic stone setting, sealing, framing, & cold-bonding techniques. Participants are encouraged to utilize the elements involved with the assembly shown in class, in addition to your own skillsets. For anyone who has taken a class with Terry, this is a great place to pick-up electroforming from where you left off. This third exclusive course starts in February and meets every other week. The course consists of two Saturday “Zoom Sessions” (USA) (two sessions of four hours) and two Sunday “Question and Answer Sessions” (two sessions of one and a half hours). We will regularly share our progress and ask questions throughout the class. You will also be signed up to the ‘watch back’ facility on TH 3 channel on the ZGS website so as you can re-watch any and all of Terry Henry’s all-important demos. Once class is over you have exclusive access to her demonstrations for six months to really get those techniques embedded in your mind. Class includes two complimentary one on one consultations over zoom with Terry Henry for personal help with the projects. You will receive numerous technical handouts. Skill Level - People who understand the basic process of electroforming For those of you who need a refresher on the fundamentals of electroforming, the E-course Terry Henry 1 - Introduction to electroforming is available at: www.zurichglassschool.com/product-page/e-course-terry-henry-introduction-to-electroforming-on-glass
