This series of E-courses is designed for experienced sculptors in order to learn how to create large sculptures in component form in borosilicate glass
This E_course is a stand alone course, but it is designed as a follow on from the
Julie 2: Sculpting the figure course. Our Julie 3 course will build upon the techniques learnt in Julie 2 using the figure to further develop your sculptural learning curve in the comfort of your own studio. During these six 1 hour weekly zoom sessions we will look at all the fiddly bits: arms, hands, fingers, feet and toes. We will also work on creating realistic heads with features. We will not create highly detailed faces but beautifully stylised ones with bone structure and grace. Too much face detail runs a distinct risk of ones figures looking cartoonish, not something Zurich Glass School wishes to teach their participants. We will examine proportion in-depth and learn the foundational blocks to creating large scale figures in borosilicate glass.
By the end of this E_course you will feel like you can take on the world in terms of your figure making. Expect to have your eyes opened and your hands twitching with the new knowledge trickling through them. Please remember, what we are creating is tricky and takes practice, logic, patience and an inquiring mind.
This course will be big, hot, heavy and advanced. It is recommended you should begin class by starting with a figure half the size of Dr. Denton's and building up to big, over time. This course will push your skill level and give you confidence in your own abilities, and to own other types of sculpture with borosilicate.
You will also receive a complimentary one on one consultation with the maestro to help you through the tricky bits. It is advisable to use this as our participants find them invaluable.
You can work through this course at your own pace and you are subscribed for three months to your chosen channel. Once you have purchased this course it may take up to 24 hours to add you to your e_course channel. A folder full of complimentary material is included with this e_course channel which includes demo transcriptions, visual pdf's and helpful pictures. All demos have been transcribed and are available upon request in 30 different languages.
Skill Level: Own torch or access to a flameworking studio is a necessity. Experience in flameworking or beadmaking is essential, and it is very helpful if you have completed Julie 2: Sculpting the figure. This supplementary course is also available as an E_course to prepare yourself before class starts.
